Marc
See, my roommate works as a counselor at a day camp, and this very same day camp goes to the same pool that we frequented today. And we saw Erin, and she introduced us to some of her day camp kids, and next thing I know is that I've made about nine new friends, and I can't for the life of me get them to stop hanging on to me ... not like I was trying anyways. We started off with a game of Marco Polo that turned into a twenty person free-for-all with kids coming in from all over the place. Only problem was that they were all too short to touch the ground at that particular end of the pool, so they'd hang on to me for dear life and steer me away from whomever was deemed "It" at the moment. Then they decided we should go to the big waterslides, so we did. And they make you watch them as they come down and cheer them on, which I was entirely happy to do. I fucking love kids. I think they're great.
Then it was back into the pool for more "Let's Drown Marc" games. Then to the really uber-violent waterslides that used to be diving boards but are now just pieces of piping that shoot you straight down into the water. Then back into the pool for more "Let's Drown Marc" games. Then to the diving boards. Then home. And I'm beat now, but I've had a great day. I enjoy hanging out with kids so much cause I think I can still relate to them, and I'm kind of hesitant to give that up. I like being kind of willing to just go ignorant and slack-jawed and tell them that I'm Godzilla and that the only way for them to get me to stop splashing them is for them to take me down. I can take the pain as long as they all had fun.
And apparently they did. As soon as the roommate came home she said, "My kids want you to come back for the rest of the camp." Aww. The little guys got to me. Now. Time for a nap. I've a feeling that I've made some parents very happy this evening by wearing their kids the fuck out. There'll be some tired little campers by this time tonight, including me.
