scoot again

experienced my first true holiday spirit today (which should be anyday spirit, really):

i made a quick stop to buy some candy from jewel, and the total came to $1.01. a dollar and one freakin cent. one cent, people, that i didn't have in my pocket. as i sighed and started to pull out a second dollar from my wallet, i thought i'd take a chance so i asked the guy behind me if he happened to have a penny on him. hell, i didn't want 99 cents in change. lucky for me, he did have a penny. and he let me have it. and he smiled. i said "thanks, i appreciate it."

and i smiled.
