ZK

Handcuffed to the wheel/and steering wildly/through love's fields, so blindly

Ryan Adams, ladies and gents.

Today, on ISU's quad, there are a group of anti-abortionist religious zealots. I am able to say anti-abortionist because they are holding car-sized posters of 3 month old aborted fetuses with captions like "THE NEW HITLER". I am able to say "religious" because their leader***1*** is waving a tan, leather bound edition of the Bible. I am able to say zealot because they do not represent the majority of faith-having Americans. I am able to call them fascists because they are under the impression that a free country means freedom only for those who prescribe to their mentality. It is fine by me that they think there's a heaven and, more importantly, a hell where my fornicating, sinful person is going to be sent. They can believe that. Where I start to waver is when they say to me that doctors who provide these services will be burned in hell by their "loving, just" Jesus Christ Almighty.

My longing to yell "that book yer holding is 2000 years old" died down. I did, however, yell at the crowd to stop giving him an audience, to just refuse his words if they didn't agree. He doesn't exist, his hate can't be felt, if we look past him. That doesn't mean ignore him, it means look him in the eye, say "no", and keep walking.

whatev.

in the stereo: ryan adams- "harder now that it's over"

***1***WHo, unironically, has a mustache, is short, and is probably missing a testacle. Neither here no there, fascist bastard.
