Marc

Alright, let's put yesterday behind us ... we'll start with the first string

Spent 1.24 hours yesterday in a series of line, waiting to get a shot. Does that make any sense to anyone? Meningitis vaccine, to be exact. This marks the first time my mom has succesfully nagged me to get any kind of medical work done without me being sick. I guess she's right. There's really no reason not to get it. But still ... 1.24 hours? Standing? Fuck that. There were three homely girls behind who yacked on and on and on about the shot and how much it was going to hurt and how they were going to faint and how they just thought they should run out right now and blah, blah, blah. 1.24 hours!? I was ten seconds away from jamming my foot up the first one's ass when one of the nurses called my name. Lucky gal.

Spent the rest of the night reading the entire second half of Jane Eyre. Decent novel .. too many pages for one night.

Albums You Should be Listening to Right Now
"Change" by the Dismemberment Plan These guys could write any kind of album they want to. I'm completely convinced of it. This is dancy, poppy, mellow music for people that aren't afraid to get older and get groovey. "Superpowers" is playing right now, and I swear I hear a 70's type bass line in it somewhere. Dear me, buy this when it comes out, because we need to make sure these guys keep writing songs together. No one knows where they might end up fifteen years down the road. Probably writing orchestral arrangements for banjos, mandolins, and tubas (with the occasional funk-line thrown in, just for good measure).
"Gold" by Ryan Adams I never intentionally listened to Whiskeytown, but if Ryan Adams is any kind of marker for how good they were, I might have to look into it. I think Zach's probably said enough about this, so I'll leave it alone. Just know that "yes" it is good. Watch Letterman tonight.

Went to a local high school today to do observations, and just about had a stroke. Those kids were all off the fucking hook, and not in the good sense of the word. They were loud, obnoxious, abrasive, and annoying. Absolutely amazing. And these were supposed to be the smart ones. I don't know if I've made the right career decision. Time will tell, I guess. I did see one of them decked out in all kinds of conflicting gear (ie- punk rock t-shirt, bandana, raprock phat pants, tye-dyed armband (no. .. you're not reading this wrong), metal chains around neck arm and wrists, etc). Kind of reminded me of me during my last years in high school. If that me would've seen the me sitting in that classroom (ie - Old Navy Collared shirt ... jeans and worn out tennis shoes), he'd of probably kicked my ass. I've got a mustache growing for fuck's sake.
