ZooK

His excellent blue chair in St. Jude was like a first basemen's glove that gently gathered in whatever body was flung its way, at whatever glancing angle, with whatever violence; it had big helpful ursine arms to support him while he performed the crucial blind pivot.

Jonathon Franzen from his The Corrections. A beautiful book that has kept my mind away from other, probaly more crucial, things. Like reading Foucault/Nietszche. Like re-writing a 10 page paper. Like writing articles for Hit it or Quit it!. Like living.

Hey Mercedes were great. I have to heartily agree that the The High Dive belongs in Bloomington. Champaign people don't deserve it. Offense intended. Last night at least 2/5 of the crowd was from Bloomington, and the rest all came from Rival School's outrageously large bus. Did they need a bus? No. They sucked butts. Matt&Rick were all about them. All I could hear was the same stuff over and over, and they didn't even have great sound, as the Mercedes act did. I did take part in a last-second-before-closing round of Jack Daniels shots with an insanely drunk birthday boy and what appeared to be the entire Rival Schools tour crew. Or maybe it was somebody else. Thanks, Bob, by the way, for purchasing that for me. I'm still tasting it this morning/afternoon, but oh well.

I am student teaching in Bloomington. It is official. While I would have liked to have saved the money living here will cost me, I also love the idea of still being a college kid, if at least for one more semester. I especially, above all else, am glad that the Ry and I don't have to separate. That's good. I'll deal with the finances somehow...At least I didn't get stuck in Flanigan, Illinois, as one of my classmates did. It's 40 minutes away by car, a town of less than 1000, and he has no money and no car. That is the dictionary definition of f.u.c.k.e.d.

Next five: "New york city cops" by the strokes; "southern man" by neil young; the first song on Change; "fuck her gently" by tenacious d; and "I am the embodiment of Chip from the Corrections" by zook feat. lois lane & fred durst.

in the stereo: D. Plan, "Change".
