I don't want to rip on a good cause, but has anyone out there seen the new, all-star version of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On"? I'll start by saying that the footage of the Backstreet Boys alone nearly proves that they've never been in a recording studio before. Everyone else is animated and into it, and there they are, wide-eyed and stiff.
Nick Carter: "Hey Jermaine, is this the microphoner?"
J. Dupuis: "Yeah, brotha'. But we just call it a 'mic' here."
Nick Carter: looks quickly to AJ McLean for support and encouragement, but becomes disappointed after realizing that AJ quickly quit the gig to pull bongs in the back of their fucking Aeroplane
And whoever the insensitive fucks that authorized (and authored) this god-awful display of how badly our entertainers lack talent are, need to be shot for letting the grand finale end with none other than Pudge himself - Fred "D-B-A-G til I Pee" Durst. If there were a God, I'd beseech his guidance right now.
But, who am I to rip on charity, eh? Forgive me.
Michael Jackson had it right with "We Are The World". You've got the Boss, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, etc. Compare that with Ja Rule, Fred Durst, Bono, and such. You make the call. Bring me back to the 80's (of course taking my fair share of indepedent & semi-indepent rock with me), when the stars had some kind of marketable talent.
Sheesh.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to point everyone's attention to a whole slew of new links added at the side. Most of them were on a little bar that popped down, but somehow I typed the HTML wrong and it didn't work. Sorry, ladies and gents, I meant no offense. I just assumed I was perfect and it'd work on the first try. Didn't even think to check it out on my own time.
And, if you get the chance, visit Pete over at NXNW's "KOLS". He saw me at a party on Saturday here in Bloomtown, apparently getting my ass kicked. I'm glad that it somewhat made his night, but I'm going to be honest and admit that I have no recollection of either seeing him or the aforementioned incident. That should give you some kind of hint as to the state of mind that I was in on Saturday. Nuff said.
