"I'm not impressed with your desire to be the biggest in the bowl,
You'll still just be a little shit in a world that's just a big shit hole."
-Ted Leo in "The Sword in the Stone"

Normal, Illinois
I know that I'm home, but for some reason it feels as if I'm visiting. I'm leaving in about 6 hours to head back to work. I'm taking on Central Illinois this week. Should be lame. I will be waking up at 5am tomorrow to drive to some town named Arthur. I thought the above quote fit the situation well.

Not much has been going on lately, thus nothing much to write about. I could be lame and type on and on about how much QT the gal pal and I have been able to squeeze in together, seeing as how we supposedly live so far away and stuff, but you'd just cringe if you read it anyways and pass over it to get to the "good stuff" - the "meat" of the post, if you will. Well, this post has no meat.

A brief synopsis: I rebought Tolkien's LOTR trilogy and The Silmarillion over break. I have returned to Middle Earth after a long absence. I bought a three-pack of computer games with a Best Buy gift card. I am currently obsessed with The Guild - a medieval-based game wherein I run a family over the course of a few generations. I am an innkeeper and brewmaster. My patrons think I'm the bee's knees. My friend - and your friend, too - Jesse is home and will be performing as Rusty Sparks of Cunt Puppet this Saturday at the Pelican's Roost in Kankakee. I'm going. Other people will be there. You can come, too, if you want. I participated in the 7th annual Kankakee Christmas Eve Denny's/Christmas Night Bowling escapades, and proceeded to get wasted on the latter of the two. I went blind for a few moments. My car broke down - and by "broke down" I mean, had small things go wrong with it - twice in the past two weeks. Both times I was in Kankakee and it cost nothing to fix, despite the fact that I just topped the 126,000 mile mark. I recorded my own version of "Blackbird" on my four-track to give to the gal pal. I went to a dueling piano bar and was mightily impressed with the pianists' version of Springsteen's "Thunder Road." I've seen LoTR:RotK twice, and was horrified both times Sam Gamgee says to Frodo Baggins: "I may not be able to carry the Ring, Mr. Frodo. But I can carry you." (cough cough whince) Ex-roommate Luke came back home for a day. We drank whiskey and Cokes together. Scott bought a pizza for a whole bunch of people. And Zach, Matt, and Rick have been mysteriously absent. The sun came out twice today. I was pleased to hear - not so much that Dick Jauron got fired, but - that John Shoop will not be returning to the Chicago Bears as an offensive coordinator next year.
