Second time's a try, third time's a bitch:
I saw Amelie tonight, and I cannot, in real words, express how great it made me feel inside. Like a four year old little kid, maybe, watching Cinderella, hoping that the prince would realize it was her, and that those slippers belonged on her feet, and not on anyone else's. Like I felt after watching Dick Tracy as a young lass, and ran around Jesse's neighborhood afterwards, pretending to be private eyes, detectives, on the lookout for gangstar's and the like. Reminds me very much of the Walter Mitty Complex, where you very much see yourself as the character from the movie, tv show, or book that you've most recently experienced, and everything comes to you in a new light. I bought a few groceries immediately after the film, and I was walking around the joint (Franzetti's for the Normal and Normal-alum) wondering how they'd film Amelie in it if they shot it there. I sound like an idiot, I know, but it really was that good. It made me forget about all these other things that I should be doing instead (like papers, and room cleanings, and packing for the next apartment move, and so forth). It made that all disappear, and I could just see myself in the theatre, with my fingers intertwined and my bottom lip being bitten by my upper teeth, and just staring intently at the screen, hoping that everything would work itself out alright, and ... oh, I should probably stop here. Seriously, and fantastic film. Go see it if you get the chance.
