I have a blister on the side of my thumb from playing at an open mic last night at a bar around the corner from my apartment. Scoot and I spent part of Wednesday and all of Thursday working on songs for our forthcoming Dudes album. Beers were in order afterwards. We headed to this joint, knocked a few back, and volunteered our services on stage. Nothing spectacular. But it was fun to be back up in front of people, playing, singing, and enjoying a bit of the spotlight. I didn't have a pick, hence the blister on the thumb. I've been playing guitar non-stop since I found out I wouldn't be working at all this summer, and I think it finally caught up to me last night.
I'm sorry there isn't anything dramatic in this post. I have been having a very nice, very relaxed time of late, and have been enjoying doing the things that I want to do. I went to the Art Institute the other day, just for the hell of it, and walked around the entire museum. Saw a 40-something woman with cameltoe. Completely unneccesary. I noticed her from a distance as her pants were incredibly tight. She moved just as I saw her, and quite accidently I saw her privates outlined in the crotch of her pants. I shuddered and turned away. Afterwards I walked down to Millenium Park and watched the Chicago Symphony Orchestra practice at the bandshell. I read Othello between songs, and played poker on my cell phone on the grass. Picked my baby up at work, enjoyed a nice dinner at Miller's Pub downtown, and headed home to watch movies. It's been a wonderful month.
