...only a person without principles could be so complaisant toward grief.
9. The Album Leaf--An Orchestrated Rise to Fall
10. The Album Leaf--Someday I'll Be On Time
11. The Album Leaf--In An Off-White Room EP
12. Alcohol Funnycar--Weasels
Along the way somehow Alcohol Funnycar survived my mass sell-off of CD's whilst in dire financial straits (among those who did not, and are now lamented, include my entire Nas catalog). Not that I didn't love this CD back in the day (christ, it's on C/Z Records...) but it just sounds like all this emo crap people are putting out now. But then again, this is from '94, so I guess that would say they pioneered the stuff, but really they were just playing rock'n'roll and happened to have heard some punk stuff that obviously influenced them. Anyway. And the album leaf has put me to sleep more times than Amplified to Rock. Lots of good stuff, and the guy is personable. We talked about San Diego, and I made up this exaggerated tale of having job offers in Oceanside, which I thought was a suburb but apparently isn't. Boob.
The worst part about hot days is sweating when yer not even doing anything. And when you have no air-conditioning it doesn't help. God, that was completely unecessary to write.
I'd forgotten to mention that we got a cat. Well, WE didn't get it, Christine did, but it's a cute little bugger as long as it stays out of my room. The only place it wants to play? My room. No alergies yet, but I haven't put it to the test yet. Her name is Billy/A.J. I call her Buddy, and Christine has changed her mind a few times, so I'm just gon' stick with that.
See you at Juno.
Next five: "NewYork,NewYork" by Ryan Adams; "execution" by spoon; "can't be the odd number in a fantasy league" by the lois lanes featuring Scooter "teach" McBoober; "don't i hold you" by wheat; and "we laugh indoors" by death cab for cutie, in honor of their return October 19th at the Metro. I have a wedding the next day to go to with Ryan, but I may be able to sneak in the show. Unless I can't, in which case I'll see 'em next time.
In the stereo: new Maxwell "Now"
