i don't mean to turn this into the blog o' suburban teaching, but in today's scene, cut to me, mr. mcb, one town over from zach. it's a normal, run of the mill type of day, and a kid needs to use the office phone to call home for his track uniform. nothing new, middle school kids can't remember their name, let alone things that aren't attached to their bods. so this kid is talking to mom, who is obviously at his every command cuz that's how a lot of parents are in this sad, sad day, and he says...
"it's probably in my room, right next to my laptop.."
keep in mind this kid is 13.
