Closet Sox fans, during the season they considered themselves Cubs fans. Now in the post season they're rooting for the Sox because they're "a hometown team". Fuck that.

Yesterday at work I got into a serious rant about this. I rooted for the Angels to beat the Yankees and go all the way for the following:
I hate the Cardinals (the Cubs #1 rival)
I hate the Astros (because they're from the Cubs' division, similar to the above)
I hate the Yankees (the evil empire, and probably would have been spanked by the Sox)
I hate the Sox (it's a love/hate relationship, which is something I learned as I got older. You love one and hate the other because the die hard Sox fan thinks the same way. There's no getting around it when there are 2 die-hard fans, 1 of each team, in the room. I got crap from friends that were Sox fans 2 years ago when the Cubs were in the play offs.)

If the Yankees won on Tuesday I would have considered the season over, and probably watch hockey or something to fill the void of baseball playoffs. Watching a hockey game is just as trashy as watching a Sox game, same fan base.

So this is why I am rooting for the Angels. I hope you Sox fans and closet Sox fans understand.
