Marc

Oh man ... that Dismemberment Plan show tonight was sooo fucking worth it.

Cex opened. Though I hadn't really ever heard of him before, I've heard/read the buzz on him from hanging around, and will have to say I was mightily impressed. He was just this skinny little white boy, with a fleece vest on over a sweater vest on over a vest t-shirt, with gold capped teeth that said, "C.E.X." on them, and he was fucking hilarious. Straight up funny as hell. He had one song about working at a fast food joint, and while rapping would randomly call out numbers and orders, which he proceeded to do during the duration of his set. He's kind of like Eminem in the fact that he's white, and his rhymes are witty, but they're so much better than that other guy's. Seriously. He talks about himself, but not in that gangster mentality like, "I've got bitches and hoes, sucking on my dick, and flexing out my toes." He says that shit like, "I was riding my bike, cause I got two wheels, and two legs, and ..." you get the point. I don't know. I'm not witty. See? Check him out if you get the chance to.

D Plan were great, though it was a little awkward seeing them in such a small room. They (along with Cex) played at a coffee shop called Gizmo's, located in a dorm at this tiny college called Know University, or some shit like that. Cex kept calling it Gizmo's University, antagonizing the crowd, and being hilarious. D Plan were more layed back, but definitely spot on. Their sound was a little funky at first, which shouldn't have been a surprise. They just got off that huge tour, and were probably not used to having to plug in on their own. They played almost all the hits, including "Doing the Standing Still", "Ice of Boston", "Gyroscope", "The City", and "Following Through", which is by far my favorite song on that new album. During "OK Joke's Over", Cex came out and started freestyling, talking about how "The Dismemberment Plan's last song always goes on way too long", at which point Travis busted out Juvenile's "Back That Thang Up". I don't give a fuck what people say. I still love that band.

That's my show review for tonight. I now need to get started on homework. Shoot me.
