Mjarc

He's right. The sun never shines in Kankakee. And the bums never smile. And the cops never pull you over. And the trash always gets picked up Thursdays. You take the good with the bad.

I can't believe that I'm listening to a John Mellencamp song featuring Chuck D of the notorious, nefarious, world-renowned rap outfit -- Public Enemy. Country twang with a New Yorker's slang. How unbelievably strange.

I was awakened by a phone call from my old boss to let me know that I'd have to rent a van for the trip to Indianapolis tomorrow. They like to kick me when I'm down, don't they? Grabbed my roommate, Jeff, and we took off for the airport in search of any van that we could find. Hertz? No. Avis? No. National? No ... Wait ... Maybe ... Yes. Yes they did have one. It took a few minutes of convincing the lady behind the counter that I was, in fact, a government employee, and that, yes, this was going to be rented for official business. I could take offense to consistently being asked if its for official business, but I only have to remember last year when I rented a cargo van supposedly for official business only to take it on a week long stint to the East Coast and back with five of my closest friends and allies. Cum si, cum sa.

Now, I head out to get LOTR tickets for the 8:45 showing at the Palace. Sounds grand.
