One. Took the ill roommate to an eye doctor this morning and watched as they did the pupil dialation bit, the squirt stuff in your eyes to make it glow in a black light bit, and the shine a light through a headset so the doctor can look all the way through your eyes to the back of your throat bit. All gold material, babies. Afterwards, we drove to McDonalds where she got some food and I didn't.

Two. Why didn't I? Because I haven't eaten fast food since the weekend after Thanksgiving 2002. Various reasons. First, I spent way too much money on it. For the second half of the year I lived with Matt and Jeff, I thought I could survive by spending $4.83 a day on a number nine from Taco Bell with a Chili Cheese Burrito on the side. Of course, I wouldn't eat the whole meal all at once, unless it was on one of the many occasions where it was approaching six o'clock and I hadn't eaten anything at all yet. The second reason had to do with reading Fast Food Nation, which I'm sure many of you have read. Just freaked me out is all, especially the part about Mad Cow Disease and how this country doesn't have it because we basically just don't test enough for it. Third, weight reasons. Have I lost weight as a result? No. Not really. But I haven't gained any. You be the judge.

Three. Why bring that up? Because I fear that next week will see me break my streak, much to my own chagrin. I'm working all throughout the South with a guy who is notorious in my company for eating fast food breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I'm going to try my hardest to hold out as long as possible, but I have a feeling we're going to be pressured for time like we used to be, and we'll basically just be bouncing from town to town, only stopping for moments on the side of the road to grab a bite. Let's face it, subs don't travel as well as burgers. It makes me sad.

Four. But that's not until Monday. So, this weekend, we're going to relax and not think about it, right? Right. Maybe a Memorial Day Weekend bbq. Maybe a nap or two. Plenty of Cubs to watch on the tube, and plenty of people to talk to. Last weekend before I end up working for the rest of the summer. And I'm so happy.

Up Next: "Police and Thieves" by the Clash; "Judy is a Punk" by the Ramones; and, "Needle in the Hay" by Elliott Smith. Otherwise known as the next three tracks on The Royal Tennenbaums soundtrack.
Tomorrow: Relaxation.
