I spent most of the day roaming about campus, doing groupwork, and working on my opus. It's a thinkpiece about a mid-level band struggling in the harsh face of stardom ... but not really. It's a travel story about when I worked for two weeks alone in tourist mecca's such as Little Rock AR, South Bend IN, Abilene TX, and the entire state of Montana. I'm cruising along at a solid nine pages, single spaced. So far I'm in the air above Little Rock, looking down. I have a feeling this is going to be huge. Little Rock was the first place I went. Do we have a first novel in the works? Me thinks. Anyone want to publish it? Let me know.
I have a feeling that the people in the class that are going to have to read at least the first part of it are going to be pissed. I have to have at least some of it to them all by Sunday afternoon, and I don't imagine that any of them are going to want to read 18+ pages and critique. Fuck 'em. What would they know anyways? I'm just the creepy guy that sits in the corner and gushes everytime we talk about DFW. Did I also say that I happened to have my copy of Harper's on me the day we were discussing the magazine. The instructor glanced at me, and I immediately whipped it out. The magazine, not it. You've got a dirty mind. I like that.
